ADAPTIVE PROGRAM

Wheelchair athletes starting the 2024 Bank of America Chicago 13.1

The Bank of America Chicago 13.1 strives to provide accessibility for all athletes with impairments through the Adaptive Program.  This program is open to all athletes with a permanent physical, intellectual, or vision impairment.  Participants are able to indicate participation in the Adaptive Program when responding ‘yes’ to the corresponding question on the registration form.


WHEELCHAIR DIVISION

Wheelchair athletes may compete in the Bank of America Chicago 13.1 utilizing a push-rim racing or other manual wheelchair.  Foot-powered cycles or motorized devices of any kind are prohibited. The wheelchair field will begin 10 minutes ahead of the elite open wave.


AMBULATORY ADAPTIVE PROGRAM ATHLETES

Athletes with impairments who are ambulatory, including those with a visual impairment, hearing impairment, physical impairment, or intellectual impairment will be offered accommodations, including Guide Runners or Support Runners, as needed at packet pick up and for race day. Ambulatory athletes with impairments may start in the Adaptive Program start area or in a regularly assigned start corral.
